Summary
Diplomaties de croisade (XIVe-début XVIe siècle) . Analysant l'interaction entre diplomatie et croisade entre la fin du Moyen Âge et le début de l'époque moderne, cet ouvrage explore comment ces deux notions s'influencent mutuellement. D'un côté, il examine la diplomatie comme un outil au service de la croisade ; de l'autre, il interroge l'usage stratégique de l'appel à la croisade dans les négociations diplomatiques - une manière de peser sur les rapports de force sans passer par les armes. Deux concepts majeurs, largement revisités par l'historiographie récente, sont ainsi mis en dialogue pour la première fois dans une étude d'ensemble. À travers 13 études de cas réparties en deux volets, l'ouvrage offre un éclairage inédit : la première partie se penche sur les démarches diplomatiques rendues nécessaires par l'échec ou l'abandon d'une croisade ; la seconde explore les interactions entre diplomatie et guerre sainte dans les contextes où l'action militaire reste centrale. Ce croisement d'approches renouvelle notre compréhension des stratégies politiques de l'époque et ouvre des pistes de réflexion originales, tant sur le plan des sources que des méthodes mobilisées.
