Depuis que l'Éthique a été publiée, en 1677, les idées de Spinoza ont suscité, selon les orientations les plus diverses, un intérêt qui ne s'est jamais relâché. Mais ces idées ont le plus souvent été considérées pour elles-mêmes, indépendamment du contexte démonstratif qui soutient leur exposition, en raison du caractère extrêmement technique et de l'aridité de celui-ci.. Dans le présent ouvrage, qui devrait servir d'outil de travail à ceux qui cherchent à avoir un accès plus direct au texte, sont proposées les explications indispensables à une lecture suivie de la deuxième partie de l'Éthique, où est abordée l'étude rationnelle de l'âme humaine..
