Les Origines du plan Marshall . Depuis l'annonce du plan Marshall, au printemps 1947, s'est imposée dans la zone d'influence américaine la conviction que les prêts en dollars des années 1948-1951 avaient apporté une aide décisive aux « pays bénéficiaires ». Ces prêts auraient seuls sorti l'Europe occidentale de la faim, de la misère, des ruines et permis sa reconstruction. Ils l'auraient aussi protégée de l'Armée rouge de Staline qui corsetait l'Europe orientale.. Se fondant sur la chronologie et les archives, notamment américaines, Annie Lacroix-Riz éclaire autrement ce dossier. Elle revient sur les accords cruciaux qui, en six années seulement, ont ouvert la porte aux produits et capitaux américains : le Prêt-Bail à l'Angleterre, en 1941-1942, les accords de Bretton-Woods mondialisant le dollar, en juillet 1944, et les accords Blum-Byrnes de mai 1946.. Ces six années marquèrent l'avènement d'un projet qui, loin de dater de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, avait été initié et mené sans répit depuis les années 1890. En définitive, il s'agissait moins de tendre une main secourable à l'Europe que de mettre en place une hégémonie financière, commerciale, politique et culturelle..
