Students will read texts such as news articles, blog posts, job advertisements and descriptions of places and activities. They will also listen to podcasts and conversations between people discussing community involvement. At the end of each learning situation, students will engage in a meaningful oral communication task that follows a similar structure to the final course evaluation.This workbook has five learning situations. In Learning Situation 1, students will examine important factors that can help them make a career choice based on individual needs. In Learning Situation 2, students will discover that many physical activities and health services are probably already available in the community – and just waiting to be discovered! In Learning Situation 3, students will be presented with various aspects to consider when moving into a new environment. In Learning Situation 4, students will do some research to obtain and share information related to making and following a budget. In Learning Situation 5 – Preparation for the Final Evaluation, students will explore how interacting with people online allows us to learn new things, exchange useful information and feel less isolated.Each learning situation contains the expected learning outcomes, explains the scenario and provides background information to assist students in the final task . Subsequent learning activities create situations that allow students to practise the language, while suggesting learning strategies and offering additional information . Graphic organizers are proposed that will help them complete the final task.
