Summary
En deux-heures-et-demi de proto-ska Jamaïcain, aux inspirations rhythm and blues, jazz, rastafari et gospel, Coxsone's Music, la nouvelle sortie de Soul Jazz Records, nous permet de (re)découvrir le travail du célèbre producteur Jamaïcain. On y retrouve ainsi les premiers enregistrements du producteur CLEMENT DODD, avant qu'il ne crée Studio One Records.
Le projet de CLEMENT SIR COXSONE DODD, The Downbeat Soundsystem, a connu un succès retentissant sur tous les dancefloors de Kingston au début des années 1960. Ces enregistrements reflètent clairement les influences rythm and blues américain et jump jazz jamaïcain du producteur.
De Don Drummond à Clancy Eccles, en passant par Roland Alphonso, Derrick Harriott, Owen Gray, Count Ossie, Monty Alexander, The Blues Busters, Ernest Ranglin et Rico Rodriguez, le producteur a réussi tout au long de sa carrière à découvrir de nombreux talents à leurs débuts.
