Summary
Après les numéros consacrés aux fêtes à la cour portugaise et dans l'Empire, puis au carnaval, ce volume des Cahiers du Crepal s'intéresse aux fêtes sacrées et aux fêtes profanes, plus particulièrement aux fêtes religieuses et aux fêtes de famille. Rites religieux et familiaux entretiennent d'ailleurs une relation complexe dans leur contexte historique propre. Dans sa fonction sociale, la fête rassemble, parfois de manière forcée, des collectivités souvent décomposées au quotidien. La fête d'anniversaire est notamment le lieu de ce phénomène.. Les contributions de ce numéro traitent des identités dans leur double dimension, religieuse et familiale, sacrée et profane. La fête peut déclencher la violence, le rejet, provoquer la critique. Mais le sujet (souvent le narrateur) s'y voit toujours confronté à la fois au même, celui du collectif, et à l'autre, alter radical reconnu comme soi-même (selon l'analyse de Ricoeur), ou bien rituellement sacrifié au nom d'une cohésion sociale. Et si la fête solitaire, « festin du silence » chez la Brésilienne Clarice Lispector, annule la force dyonisiaque ou apocalyptique de la fête, celle-ci n'en possède pas moins le plus souvent un caractère divin, qui révèle et célèbre le mystère de la condition humaine..
