Summary
Vampyre: A Horror Folktale is a vampiric supernatural prose tale set in 1940s Costa Rica. It's part folktale, part autobiography, and is told in both English and Spanish. It's also an extension of the world Delgado created in his Dracula of Transylvania.
Inspired by the classic 1980s illustrated novella Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King and Bernie Wrightson, this bilingual story is both a gruesome tale of the occult and a touching depiction of mid-century Costa Rican life. A beautiful hardcover, it includes over 200 pages crammed with historical maps, creature designs and photos of actual locations from the story both then and now. It's also a historical perspective of Delgado's parents' lives in the small town in Costa Rica where they grew up, but with the (possibly) fictional horror addition of a vampire.
