Summary
Les biotechnologies, les technologies d'information, la robotique, les nanotechnologies et les neurosciences sont en train de bouleverser très rapidement ce que nous sommes, nos corps, nos esprits, notre langage, notre rapport au monde et notre héritage naturel, et nourrissent des utopies transhumanistes.
Mais que signifie l'espoir mis dans ces technologies pour accroître nos capacités physiques et mentales, résister aux virus, trouver l'éternelle jeunesse, bref nous affranchir de notre condition humaine imparfaite, limitée et mortelle ? Jean-Michel Besnier explore ces utopies transhumanistes et s'interroge sur les raisons de vouloir écarter le corps biologique et de souhaiter s'arracher à ce qui fait de nous des humains, distincts des animaux, des dieux et des machines.
Il nous invite, en laissant de côté les positions morales trop simplistes qui conduisent au refus craintif du progrès ou à des positions antihumanistes, à nous interroger sur nos devenirs possibles, sur les valeurs existantes et à inventer qui accompagneraient notre nouvelle humanité. Un questionnement philosophique d'une grande actualité.
