Summary
Installé dans les faubourgs de Groningen, le studio néerlandais Maki est né de l'association de Matthijs Maat et Kim Smits, respectivement graphiste et illustratrice. Le succès que rencontre ce tandem ne cesse de croître depuis le lancement de leur activité en 2005. Il émane de leur complémentarité tant sur le plan formel que sensible, une originalité et une fraîcheur du trait, parfois délibérément naïf. Acteurs fervents de la plate-forme de vente en ligne de tee-shirts Threadless, ils sont en outre les auteurs et les concepteurs du livre Custom Shoes.
Based in the outskirts of Groningen, Dutch studio Maki was created when graphic designer Matthijs Maat teamed up with illustrator Kim Smits in 2005. The duo have enjoyed steadily growing success, flowing from the complementary nature of their formal talents and sensibilities, which produce an original, fresh and sometimes knowingly naive style of linework. Keen contributors to Threadless, an online platform for selling tee-shirts, they also wrote and designed the book Custom Shoes.
