Summary
Après avoir déjoué les monstres hurlants et les insectes géants qui les harcelaient lors de leur voyage de noces dans Le Cauchemar de Klonk, Klonk et Karine sont de retour à Québec, où la vie reprend son cours normal. Mais le répit est bref. Le comportement étrange de Karine amène bientôt Klonk à faire une curieuse requête à Fred, son fidèle ami écrivain. Entré en coup de vent chez ce dernier, il lui demande de prendre sa femme en filature. Rien de moins !
Depuis quelque temps, Klonk a constaté qu'à chaque jour de pleine lune son épouse quitte la maison, sans rien lui dire, pour ne revenir qu'à la tombée de la nuit. Jaloux ? Certainement. Cependant, Klonk redoute surtout le retour de Morley, le magicien, qui aurait réussi à envoûter Karine.
Commence alors une autre aventure de Klonk dans laquelle Fred est entraîné bien malgré lui. Une fois par mois, il fait le guet devant la maison de ses amis et suit discrètement Karine dans ses déplacements. Ses découvertes ne font qu'épaissir le mystère. Quel lien peut-il bien y avoir entre l'enterrement d'un ours en peluche, les longues promenades de Karine dans le cimetière et un clochard qui se promène en limousine ?
Le fin mot de l'histoire laissera Klonk sans voix... tant et si bien qu'il devra être hospitalisé.
