Summary
Le grand large . Que ce soit pour de grands reportages qui témoignaient des drames ou des magnificences de ce monde, pour ses biographies (Tolstoï, Simone Weil, le pape François, Thérèse d'Avila...) ou par culture familiale, Christiane Rancé a beaucoup voyagé. C'est justement ce goût de Tailleurs qu'elle interroge dans ce livre. S'agit-il d'une quête de ce « vrai lieu » propre à chacun, comme le lui avait appris, dès ses lectures adolescentes, le poète Yves Bonnefoy ?. Au fil de récits de voyages vécus comme une expérience intime - sur un cargo de marchandises, en Argentine ou à la poursuite des baleines - Christiane Rancé nous invite à nous interroger sur ce que pourrait être notre « authentique séjour terrestre » selon l'expression de Mallarmé, dont nous éprouvons tous le désir, voire la nostalgie.. On vibre aux souvenirs d'enfance qui viennent s'inviter dans ces pérégrinations, on pleure les jeunes disparus argentins victimes de la dictature, on se passionne pour la véritable enquête sur les sources du Moby Dick de Melville... et pourtant, au coeur même de cette recherche du « grand large », le temps comme l'espace se retrouvent comme suspendus, emportés dans la trame de cette écriture rare qui touche à l'essentiel..
