Les Mémoires d'une légende du cabaret parisien . À sa naissance en Algérie en 1935, Marie Pierre Pruvot est assignée garçon. Durant son enfance, l'avenir lui semble impossible. Comment accepter une existence qui oblige à renoncer à son être profond ? Un jour, à Alger, un spectacle de travestis lui offre une issue : elle sera artiste ou ne sera pas.. À dix-huit ans, elle arrive à Paris pour vivre en femme et se produire dans les salles les plus courues. Meneuse de revue dès 1955, celle qui désormais s'appelle Bambi devient une pionnière de la transition, bravant l'ostracisme social. Au coeur d'une troupe chatoyante, aux côtés de l'exubérante Coccinelle, un tourbillon de strass, de plumes, de tournées et de fêtes la plonge dans l'ambiance folle de la nuit parisienne.. Après vingt ans d'une carrière à succès, Bambi se réinvente une fois de plus. Plie qui, depuis toujours, se rêve en femme ordinaire passe le bac à trente-trois ans et quitte la scène pour un poste de prof de français. De l'Algérie à la France, du masculin au féminin, de la scène à l'anonymat, Marie Pierre Pruvot a su rester elle-même, quel qu'en soit le prix.
