EN SAVOIR PLUS Résumé

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most dominant teams in NFL history. They were the first team to win four Super Bowls, and with their victory in Super Bowl XL, they have rejoined the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers in the front rank of teams with five Lombardi Trophies.
The Steelers' 1974 draft class was perhaps the greatest in NFL history. Four future Hall of Famer players - Jack Lambert, John Stallworth, Lynn Swann and Mike Webster - joined a team built in head coach Chuck Noll's image - tough and physical. Noll's efforts paid off when his Steelers upset the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IX.

After a 1-1 start, the 1975 Steelers pounded out 11 straight wins on their way to a victory in Super Bowl X, thanks to their "Steel Curtain" defense and the ballet-like moves of Swann. In 1978, quarterback Terry Bradshaw had one of the best seasons leading the league in passing. In Super Bowl XIII, Bradshaw out-dueled Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach, throwing four touchdowns to win a classic shootout. The Steelers dynasty came full circle in 1979 as Pittsburgh cruised to a 12-4 regular season record. Bradshaw shined again on the NFL's biggest stage, leading the Steelers to a 31-19 victory over the Rams in Super Bowl XIV.

2005 was the Steelers last, best chance to win a ring for retiring future Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis. After an 11-5 season, Pittsburgh became the first sixth-seeded team ever to reach the Super Bowl. In Super Bowl XL, they beat the Seattle Seahawks 21-10, and Bettis retired with his ring.

America's Game features exclusive interviews with Andy Russell, Franco Harris, and "Mean" Joe Greene (1974); Lynn Swann, Dwight White and Jack Lambert (1975); Randy Grossman, Rocky Bleier, Joe Greene, and Mel Blount (1978); John Banaszak, John Stallworth and L.C. Greenwood (1979); and Jerome Bettis, Bill Cowher and Joey Porter (2005). Join NFL Films as they tell the stories of the Steelers' Super Bowl teams of the '70s-and the 2005 Steelers club that won "One for the Thumb."
