The new trio recording of the exceptional Swiss jazz pianist Urs Bollhalder finds him collaborating with the renowned double bass player Heiri Känzig and the talented young drummer Kevin Chesham. + All the pieces on this CD were composed by Urs Bollhalder and provide the basis for a unique mixture of exciting contemporary interactivity, fiery grooves and sensuously lyrical passages. + The individual pieces tell musical stories all around the topic of the sea. + The way in which composition and improvisation flow into one another is wholly organic, and is one of the strengths of the trance-like communication between these three musicians. + Mr. Bollhalder made his first CD with his then trio in 2010 for the Italian label CAM Jazz. + Heiri Känzig is one of the best-known Swiss musicians on the international scene. + Over the last three decades he has made a name for himself both as a bandleader and as an experienced sideman. + Percussionist Kevin Chesham’s playing combines the traditions of jazz drumming with contemporary elements in a wholly unique fashion.
