*** Résumé en anglais seulement ***With the new album Time Travel , the multi-award-winning ensemble once again presents an unusually conceived album: Selected hits of the legendary Beatles meet the music of the most famous English baroque composer, Henry Purcell. And the result is astonishingly good: The Purcell and Beatles compositions merge seamlessly [...] It would be hard to combine old and new in a more skilful and clever way, everything here is organic and logical, nothing seems intentional or contrived. And the entire ensemble sprouts pure musical joy from its pores, wrote the press enthusiastically after a completely sold-out concert in Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie. No wonder, because the arrangements by composer and cellist Bo Wiget and ensemble leader Wolfgang Katschner, tailored to the special instrumentation of the Lautten Compagney, build an impressive tonal bridge between the 17th and 20th centuries. The solo saxophone, which mostly reproduces the original vocal melody and is played with wonderful expression by the young saxophonist Asya Fateyeva, creates a colour all of its own. Time Travel features Lennon / McCartney songs like Yesterday , Another Girl , Because , Tomorrow never knows or When I'm 64 and works from famous stage works by Purcell like King Arthur , The Fairy Queen , Dido and Aeneas , The Indian Queen , Abdelazer as well as Bonduca . Although not a word is sung, the poetic quality of the songs or works is present at all times. And it shows that The Beatles and Henry Purcell are not only connected by their home country England, their popularity and musical versatility, but also by a pronounced sense for catchy melodies.
