Violinist Gottfried von der Goltz and musicians from the Freiburger Barockorchester bring the music of composer, violinist, teacher and art dealer Francesco Geminiani to life. His treatise entitled The Art of Playing on the Violin (1751) had considerable influence in its day, and remains an important reference on the performance of late Baroque music. With Geminiani, virtuosity is not an end in itself but it serves a pure musical drama where lyrical flights correspond to intimate feelings.
