Summary
Guy Braunstein, qui a été premier violon du Philharmonique de Berlin pendant près de quinze ans, fait désormais une carrière internationale de soliste, chef et compositeur. Inspiré par la période de Beatlemania qu’il a connue chez lui, avec sa famille, Braunstein a tissé une douzaine de chansons du célèbre album Abbey Road des Beatles en un concerto pour violon et orchestre intitulé Abbey Road Concerto. Le concerto entremêle des compositions de Braunstein lui-même – Ouverture, Intermezzos, Cadenza et The End – à ses arrangements de tubes de John Lennon, Paul McCartney et George Harrison comme Come Together, Oh Darling, Here Comes The Sun and I Want You. Le jeune chef mexicain Alondra de la Parra, lui aussi passionné des Beatles, était un choix tout naturel pour diriger l’Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège dans cette vision unique et captivante de la musique intemporelle que le groupe a enregistrée dans les studios d’Abbey Road Studios en 1969. L’Abbey Road Concerto de Braunstein est accompagné d’une partition très appréciée de Ralph Vaughan Williams, The Lark Ascending, et du Concerto pour violon rarement joué de Frederick Delius. Tout comme l’album Abbey Road lui-même, les premiers enregistrements de ces deux œuvres de Delius et Vaughan Williams ont été réalisés dans les studios d’Abbey Road à Londres.
