Raised on a farm by his aunt and uncle in Fairmont, Indiana, James Byron Dean was not necessarily predestined for stardom. Although having starred in only three motion pictures, Dean's popularity and appeal lasted over half a century. His brief but shining career, his violent death and his exceedingly publicized funeral have transformed the young actor into a cult hero of timeless attraction and appeal, even 50 years after his death.

The James Dean Story (1957)
A glimpse into the world of James Dean, Story features clips from his biggest movies as well as snippets from his earlier television appearances. Altman's talents shine in his reenactment of the accident that took Dean's life. Narrated by Martin Gabel (Julius Caesar, Life With Father) and directed by Robert Altman.

James Dean: The Legend (1976)
A beautiful portrayal of one of Hollywood's biggest names, The Legend was written by William Bast, Dean's roommate in the early 50s. Starring Stephen McHattie, Michael Brandon and Brooke Adams.
