Summary
Fondé en 1968, Black Sabbath a changé l’histoire du rock. Leur deuxième album Paranoid est considéré comme une des pierres angulaires du heavy metal. Issus du milieu prolétaire de Birmingham, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Burler et Bill Ward ont redessiné le visage du heavy rock compensant des qualités techniques limitées par une approche stylistique radicale. L'auteur revient sur les cinquante-huit années de carrière de cette formation qui, outre le metal, a influencé le grunge et le stoner. Il analyse la genèse et la discographie du groupe d’origine puis suit la trajectoire d’un projet qui, gangrené par la drogue et au gré d’incessants changements d’effectif, a terni sa propre image, avant d’opérer un retour en grâce à partir de 2013 jusqu'à la disparition d'Ozzy Osbourne en 2025.
