Summary
Ces carnets des pôles sont une invitation au voyage, au rêve et à la poésie, un itinéraire de l'extrême nord à l'extrême sud de la Terre. À bord de la goélette polaire Tara, en Arctique en 2007, puis en Antarctique en 2011, Vincent Hilaire a parcouru ces immensités glacées à la même période de l'année, entre septembre et janvier. Mêmes jours calendaires, mais destins diamétralement opposés, puisque, au moment où le pôle Nord est plongé dans la longue nuit, les manchots empereurs vivent un jour sans fin dans le grand Sud. Magie des pôles et des hémisphères renversés, vécus dans ces contrastes du noir et du blanc. Dans ces paysages très difficiles d'accès, encore préservés, les ambiances et les lumières de bout du monde donnent à ces photographies rares toute leur intensité.. En 1914, Franck Hurley, le photographe des expéditions de Shackleton, l'avait déjà montré dans le grand Sud. Un siècle plus tard, les missions de Tara Expéditions, à vocation scientifique, redonnent un élan exceptionnel à cette dimension artistique. Pour Vincent Hilaire aujourd'hui, ces embarquement sont une profonde source d'inspiration en même temps qu'une quête de liberté. Il nous fait partager ici ses aventures, avec la sensation d'assister quelquefois, dans cette nature vierge, à de nouvelles naissances du monde..
