*** Résumé en anglais seulement *** Originally released as a double LP in 1979, Centrediscs, alongside New Music Concerts, is proud to present this historical performance on compact disc. Commissioned by Radio Canada, Loving (Toi) was first performed as Toi on the TV series L’Heure du concert in 1966. Later that same year, it was rebroadcast as Loving. The New Music Concerts Ensemble, under the direction of Robert Aitken, performed the complete score in several Canadian cities throughout 1978, and recorded the work that same year. R. Murray Schafer (b. 1933) is an acclaimed composer and educator, as well as literary scholar, journalist, environmentalist, visual artist, and provocateur. He has composed more than 100 compositions, and has won numerous awards.
